FRANKLIN, TN- Congressman Marsha Blackburn (TN-7) will hold a town hall meeting on health care reform this Friday, August 14th. The event will be held at the Embassy Suites in Franklin and feature nationally recognized health care expert Dennis Smith  , former director of the federal Center for Medicaid and State Operations at the Department of Health and Human Services.

Blackburn’s formal town hall meeting follows three less formal events the Congressman held last week. The informal meetings in Memphis, Nashville, and Jackson drew far larger crowds than expected.

“Washington is considering sweeping reforms that will immediately impact every single American.” Blackburn said. “It is vital that Members of Congress hear and understand their constituents views before we return to Washington. My experience last week reinforced my view that Tennesseans have many questions and deep reservations about the many health care proposals on Capitol Hill. I am eager to hear those concerns as well as fresh ideas for how Congress might enact meaningful, workable, reform.”

Last week’s town hall meetings were originally designed as “meetups” for the Congressman’s followers on Facebook. They were not met with the disruption other Members of Congress have experienced across the country. Friday’s format will be that of a more formal town hall meeting.
