Only 42% of Virginians Approve of Obama

A staggering decline:

...a 42 percent approval rating while 51 percent disapprove of his performance.

That’s down from a positive 48/46 spread last month. 92 percent of Democrats but only 3 percent of Republicans approve of his performance, while independents go against him by a margin of 54/34. It’s important to note that if this poll was of the 2008 electorate Obama’s approval would be a positive 50/44, but his low numbers among likely voters for this fall’s election reflects Democratic disinterest in the race.

Only 14 percent of Virginia voters say they’re more likely to vote for [Democratic gubernatorial candidate] Creigh Deeds because of Obama campaigning for him, while 37 percent say they’re less likely to do so.
